Hello everyone,
Time passes quickly here ... After a quick stop in Vancouver for a final farewell to Lorent and Loc, we headed North.
And this is where things start to get a little different ... In France, before crossing the country you refuel! Here make sure the service is done! By studying the road that separates us from Inuvik (the northern city connected with road) we realized that the kms would soon add up, a little more than 5000kms to connect two cities and according the fact that we have the intension to take up tracks! After all, our Sputnik just finished his break and pass 400.000kms!
So from Vancouver, then Pemberton, Williams Lake, Prince George, Kitwanga and Cassiar Hwy to Watson Lake, including a trip to Alaska Hyder to see the Bear and Salmon glaciers. Once in the Yukon Territory we took the Robert Campbell Hwy to Minto. As soon as you are in Yukon the fauna is more and more present the and road turns into a real safari, Black Bear, Moose, Cinnamon Bear, Wolves, Grizzly Bear, Beavers, Eagles ... and of course mosquitoes which is far, the most dangerous animal here!
Just before Dawson City we left the Klondike Hwy for a round trip of 1500kms to Inuvik on the Dempster Hwy. For several kms people we met praised the scenery of this famous road, so it was out of the question to miss.
Dempster Hwy is actually a dirt track elevated several meters of gravel does not sink into the Thermafrost. The trail head north to the town of Inuvik in the Arctic Circle and the road is amazing, the number of mosquito also ... Small detail: it is sufficient to wait overnight for mosquitoes subside, but here there is no night! We have only day light for over 15 days now! The weather is beautiful since our departure and temperatures are often above 25 ° C. So when there is a water hole without bears, we take a swim!
We will stay few days in Inuvik and therefore in the Arctic Circle to meet people and learn about this remote place before heading to Alaska.
See you Soon, Katia and Ivan.
PS: Moose print near my hand!
Bravo vous nous faites rêver ....Repérage de l'endroit ou vous êtes ...puis un tour sur Google Earth pour admirer les photos (des autres) de ce que vous avez sous les yeux ...
